John "Dinny" Reedman is a former football player for clubs around Adelaide. He is also a champion swimmer and cricketer.

Football Career[]

In 1884, Reedman made the change from Medindie to Hotham. The next year, he became a member of the 1885 premiership side. He would be made captain the next year and lead his side to another premiership. In 1887, Hotham would join the South Australian Football Association (SAFA, now SANFL) and lead his side to another premiership. In 1888, Hotham changed their name to North Adelaide (no connection to the current club) and again captain the club. In 1889, North Adelaide amalgamated with Adelaide and by then Reedman moved to South Adelaide, where he was made captain. Reedman stayed with South Adelaide until 1898, where he was forced to play for North Adelaide due to electorate football. Reedman led South in 6 premierships. Reedman led North Adelaide from 1901-1905, and in that time the club won two premierships and playing in the 1900 premiership. He also captained South Australia in 1903. Reedman would then coach a struggling West Adelaide in 1908 after 'winning' the wooden spoon the year before. West Adelaide would be premiers in 1908 and become Champions of Australia after beating Carlton. Reedman returned to North to play for one more year and retiring when he was 43.

Reedman is part of 'South Adelaide's Team of the Century' named in the back pocket.
