The West Coast Eagles Football Club was formed in 1986 as a new addition to the Victorian Football League as the VFL expanded to Western Australia and Queensland for the 1987 season. The Eagles were quickly successful, making the finals in their second season and winning a premiership in 1992, the first side from outside Victoria to do so. West Coast repeated that success in 1994 and added a third flag in 2006.
